My word for 2023: efficient
1. performing or functioning in the best possible manner with the least waste of time and effort;
having and using requisite knowledge, skill, and industry
2. producing an effect, as a cause
I am not one to make new year's resolutions, but I do like to seek God for a word He may have for me to focus on each year. Some years I hear a word in my spirit while other years go right on by without receiving a specific focus. This year my focus word came within the first couple of days of 2023, and it was very clear: "EFFICIENT"! As I pondered that word for my 2023 focus, I actually started getting excited in my spirit! Could this be the year some of my dreams of what God wants me to do will come true? If it is His time for the fulfillment of specific God-assignments, I am confident they will unfold if I am efficient in implementing what He leads me to do. If 2023 is not the time for a specific calling to happen, then I will be efficient by leaving that in the Lord's hands and not "spinning my wheels" by trying to make something happen that is not in season.
My best option for producing efficiency in my life is to seek God for His direction and obey His promptings. He places the desires in my heart for what He wants in the first place: "Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart" Psalm 37:4. As I seek Him for how to accomplish His promptings and not trust only on what I think I should do, He will direct me: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6.
What a privilege to have an intimate relationship with the One who has all knowledge and wisdom! He knows what I need both in resources and in emotional fulfillment. He also knows what others need, those who will partner with me in the assignment and those who will receive answers to their prayers because God sends us. I look forward to a year of efficiency that will result in less wasted time and more productivity.
